It is recommended that with every carpet purchased, a new underlay is installed, in order to maximise the look, feel and ultimately, the age of the carpet. The benefits of an underlay are endless. It can increase the life of the carpet by up to 40% (source: The Carpet Foundation), insulate heat and absorb sound - reducing underfoot noise. An underlay will also help maintain the initial pile structure of the carpet - making maintenance easier and appearance more long-lasting.

Rices Carpets offer a range of underlay and are happy to recommend the more suitable types for each room.

For Laminate and Real Wood flooring...

The effect produced by scotia is the ideal way to finalise the look of a laminate floor. It runs around the edge of the floor, acting as a type of beading. Our range includes a white appearance to match traditional skirting boards, or a more obvious wood finish, in order to reflect the floor around it.

With a variation in qualities, depending on the type of subfloor. Damp-proof laminate underlay acts as a type of lining, totally resistant to moisture. As with carpet underlay, that of laminate can reduce sound impact, as well as minimise heat loss. However, a laminate underlay also reduces damp levels.

Like scotia, our range of skirting boards can complete and compliment any wood or laminate flooring. Our range includes a variety of colours, in order to either match or contrast the flooring.

A variety to suit, with individual styles aimed at each type of flooring, such as laminate and wood flooring, as well as carpet and vinyl. Our range is designed to match door accessories, such as handles.

In order to level the subfloor, we offer a full screeding service, aimed at uneven solid floors, for any PVC product (such as vinyl or Karndean). Furthermore, we can ply-board or hard-board uneven wooden floors.

If requested, we will also install lining paper underneath your new underlay, in order to prevent dust from the floorboards.

Although recommended, it is not essential that you use a professional fitting service in order to install your new laminate/wood floor. Therefore, if you do decide to fit the floor yourself, we offer a complete range of necessary fitting equipment to help you.
